April ended with our big event at the Basking Ridge Country Club on Thursday April 19th with our Annual Spring Luncheon and Fashion show.

With nearly 175 in attendance, everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch and a chance on “Lady Luck” for prizes consisting of gift cards to local restaurants, a weekend stay at local hotels and shopping sprees – just to mention a few. Fashions were provided by Melania Fashions of Randolph with the Thursday Morning Club members serving as models. The event was chaired by Rose Marry Dinnhaupt and Sharon Silver. Proceeds from the event benefited our very own Madison Community House.

Moving on to May! The Madison Community House was the venue on May 3rd for the Installation of the Thursday Morning Club Officers for the 2-year term from 2018-2020. The Installation Ceremony was conducted by Barbara McCloskey, the current Vice President of the Highlands District, of the NJSFWC. Also in attendance was Jean Revis, President of the NJSFWC.

Carol Schessler, the current Thursday Morning Club President welcomed all the guests, paid special recognition to past Thursday Morning Club presidents and announced members inducted into the Honor Roll and the Order of the Lily for 2018. The festivities were preceded by a delicious luncheon catered by Nonna’s of Florham Park. The Thursday Morning Club’s new Trustees installed for 2018-2020 were: 2nd Vice President Kathy Trombacco, Recording Secretary Kathy Solu, Treasurer Carol Hartel, Operations Olga Soriano, Programs Anne Meyer and Social Events Karen Jeisi with Connie Rostiac as Co-chair.

Then on Saturday May 5th, our Conservation Dept. and the Thursday Morning Club helped spruce up Madison. Our members weeded, mulched and planted flowers at the Madison Train Station, then headed back to our “home” on Cook Ave. to continue the weeding, mulching and planting. Thank you to our members for joining other Madison residents for the Annual May Day Event and for making the Madison Community House so pretty after a long dreary winter!

Speaking of Conservation! We will be having our Plant Sale at J&M Garden Center in Madison starting at 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Stop by and pick up some plants, bushes or even new patio furniture.

Our next May event will be our Wise Wonderful Women Lunch & Lecture next week on Thursday, May 17th. We will be “Celebrating the Children” with our guest speaker Lisa Firkser, Executive Director of the CASA of Morris and Sussex Counties. After we have a delicious lunch provided by our own Catering Department, we will be filling painted piggy banks for the children in foster care. So bring your spare change with you to this exciting event.
