Last week the Thursday Morning Club held their monthly general meeting. It was well attended by many club members and their friends. Linda Pastorino, owner of Singkiang in Chester, discussed how she got her passion of ethnic jewelry, costumes, and Objets d’Art during her many childhood trips to flea markets and auction houses with her parents.

Pastorino is not only a dealer of antique and ethnic jewelry, artifacts, and costumes in Chester; she also designs clothes and fashion accessories, and has maintained a manufacturing company in Asia. She chose the Parsons School of Design for her college studies. While a student at Parsons, she worked at New York’s eclectic Putumayo store, where she sold antiques, clothing, and folk art. She explains that her interests also “include all kinds of decorative arts spanning Europe and America.”

Before our lecture with Linda, we honored our Past President Michal Holzman and thanked her for her years of service to the Thursday Morning Club. We had surprised three other members with honoring them on a State level. It was an exciting night for all!

Our next meeting will be our Annual Installation Luncheon to install the new Board Members for the 2018 – 2020 years. This lunch will be held on May 3, 2018.

Then we move on to volunteer for the Madison May Day Clean Up on Saturday May 5, 2018. Our Conservation Department and members will be weeding, mulching and planting flowers at the Madison Train Station and then back to the Madison Community House to spruce up our own gardens. Hope to see you there!
